What is TRON Energy?

The TRON blockchain meters certain kinds of on-chain activity using network resources rather than a single per-transaction charge. Energy is one of those resources. When the network processes a transaction that executes smart contract code, that execution consumes Energy.

Energy is accounted for per address and is expressed in units. It is not a coin, it has no market price of its own, and it cannot be transferred between wallets the way a token can. It is closer to a metered capacity than to an asset.

Where Energy comes into play

  • Transactions that call smart contract code can consume Energy when they are processed.
